Play: Enter Heathered Pearls’ “Warm Air Estate” Remix Contest
For Heathered Pearls’ Jakub Alexander, music and visual art are eternally intertwined. The two creative disciplines permeate the Brooklyn-based artist’s sophomore release, Body Complex, a well-crafted melange of classic architectural structure, ambient sound design, melodic Detroit techno, and beyond on standout moments like “Interior Architecture Software” and “Abandoned Mall Utopia.”
“When music from the 2000s like Gas, early Dial, and Mille Plateaux releases popped up in my headphones, it was completely visual for me,” Alexander explains. “Something clicked from collecting pages out of old Architectural Digest magazines and being completely overwhelmed with inspiration for my own visions of interior architecture.”
So what’s he looking for in a winning remix? “I’m hoping someone will strip away some of its moodiness and give it a tasteful, melodic, big-room makeover; I always imagined some Daniel Avery or old Border Community size to it.”
