Mad Decent boss Diplo regularly showcases new talent on his BBC Radio 1 show, and the latest episode is no exception. This time around, ‘Diplo and Friends’ has secured a guest mix from enigmatic producer Marshmello, whose SoundCloud account has inspired a huge following. As the host simply puts it: “Massive online hype on this guy right here.” Marshmello’s hour-long mix features several of his head-turning productions (he calls his sound ‘deep fluffy hybrid melodic sexy trap house’), including “KnOw mE,” “Pr0,” “WaVeZ” and “FinD Me,” plus his hyped remix of Jack Ü and Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now.”
Marshmello recently made a surprise cameo during Katie Couric’s Yahoo piece on Skrillex, when he happened to call the OWSLA boss during the interview. While the name Marshmello was certainly new to Couric, he’s had blogs talking ever since his SoundCloud came to life with “WaVeZ.” In just a few months, he’s tallied up millions of plays on his originals and remixes.
In addition to his Jack Ü flip, Marshmello’s turn on ‘Diplo & Friends’ also features his reworks of Avicii’s “Waiting For Love” and Zedd’s “Beautiful Now,” plus selections from Wave Racer, Trippy Turtle, Basenji and Kastle. Get into it below.
