On the latest edition of his BBC Radio 1 residency, Diplo handed the reins to one of the brightest stars from Mad Decent’s roster, Dillon Francis. As the host puts it at the top of the show: “Not only is he a big, huge star, he’s a big, huge friend of mine. A true friend.”
For this instalment of Diplo & Friends, Dillon is in charge of the full 120-minute show – “not that little weak, basic one hour,” as Diplo puts it. The first hour is a snapshot of the DJ’s livewire sets this summer, including a stack of his own productions like “Bootleg Fireworks,” “I Can’t Take It” and “Not Butter.” Tracks from Dillon’s new moombahton EP, This Mixtape Is Fire, are also worked in, including his team-up with Kygo to close the mix.
Then, in hour two, the guest star switches to his alter-ego DJ Hanzel to go “vun deeper.” On this mix, the tempo changes up thanks to cuts from the likes of Eekkoo, Shiba San, Huxley and Dusky. You can get into both mixes below.
