Detroit’s storied Movement Festival will return to Hart Plaza this Memorial Day Weekend, and a show-stopping Phase 1 2015 line-up has just been announced. While the DNA of the festival remains techno and house (with strong representation of the Motor City sound), the initial roll-call of names spans hip hop, bass music, electro, disco and many shades in-between. It’s a truly astounding cast descending on Detroit from May 23-25.
At the top of the line-up is a trifecta of standout names: techno icon and Movement flag-bearer Richie Hawtin, hip hop don Snoop Dogg in his DJ Snoopadelic guise, and brothers-in-rave Skrillex and Boys Noize under their Dog Blood banner. Then there’s Disclosurepresenting a special Wild Life showcase with some of their DJ and producer friends. The all-important Motor City contingent includes Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen, GRiZ, Kevin Saunderson,Matthew Dear and offbeat rapper Danny Brown.
As ever, Movement’s commitment to house and techno includes a host of European and UK luminaries. In 2015, Hart Plaza will welcome Berghain residents Ben Klock, Steffi, Ryan Elliottand Marcel Dettmann, Innervisions favorites Dixon and Henrik Schwarz, and Beatport success stories like Patrick Topping, Ten Walls, Recondite and Nina Kraviz.
Other highlights in a long list include Dubfire tag-teaming with Hot Since 82, a Martinez Brothers and Seth Troxler back-to-back, Robert Hood as Floorplan, KiNK doing his celebrated live set, hip hop originals People Under The Stairs and Shigeto‘s powerhouse live show. In short, this one’s huge – and there’s more to come. Tickets are on sale now.
