This Labor Day weekend, North Coast Music Festival returns to Chicago’s Union Park from September 4-6 for an event its team calls “the last stand of summer.” Having just announced the three-day artist lineup, it’s a strong way to close out the season.
As initially reported by Billboard, headliners of the extended weekender include veteran electronic duo the Chemical Brothers, who are on their way to a new album; R&B act D’Angelo and the Vanguard, and a surprise rock act who will be formally revealed on May 12.
The supporting acts also range fairly wide, from rap artists like Atmosphere, Wale, Leikeli47 and The Roots to rock bands such as Portugal. The Man to jam outfits The Disco Biscuits, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and Galactic with Macy Gray. Much of the lineup, though, is steeped in dance music of equally diverse nature, including Porter Robinson (who will perform live), Chromeo, The Glitch Mob, Green Velvet, Steve Aoki, Tycho, Booka Shade, Jauz and more.
